FUNDING INTERESTS, GRANT APPLICATIONS AND REPORTS

The Nagel Foundation supports qualified 501(c)(3) charities in southwest Idaho in the areas of education, youth programs, and human concerns.

The Nagel family created the foundation in 1989, and the selection of the recipients is based primarily on need.  The board of directors prefers to grant in areas where the funds are used to help organizations whose primary mission is to help those who would otherwise not be able to help themselves through scholarships, social welfare and health care.

The foundation does not fund capital projects, administration, individuals, political campaigns or candidates, and lobbying activities.  The Nagel Foundation grants financial support only, and does not directly administer programs.  The Board of Directors has sole discretion in the allocation of funds and the selection of grantees.

Prospective applicants should review the above statements, geographic range and desired uses of funds prior to applying for a grant.  If there are questions about a proposed application, please contact the foundation.

Grant applications must be submitted by the October 31 annual deadline.  The preferred method of submitting applications is with our online application form.  Forms may also be printed off and mailed to the foundation office.  The foundation encourages the submission of supporting materials if the applicant feels it is necessary to do so.  All supporting materials become property of the foundation upon submission.

Grants are awarded only to qualified 501(c)(3) tax exempt organizations in southwest Idaho.  The organization is required to submit proof of its 501(c)(3) IRS tax-exempt status.  This may be done by mailing a copy to the foundation office or emailing a PDF copy.

The Board of Directors meets in November to review applications.  Grant notifications are made by November 30.
Over the following year, the foundation intends to contact and visit organizations awarded grants to evaluate the effectiveness of the funded program.

As a private foundation, the Nagel Foundation is subject to the Internal Revenue Code, the rules of regulations of the United States Internal Revenue Service relating to private foundations, and the statutes and regulations of the State of Idaho.
Annual reports of the activities of the Foundation are submitted to the Internal Revenue Service of the United States and to the Attorney General of the State of Idaho.
